Spring is the perfect time to deep clean the cobwebs out of our homes, our minds, and our manuscripts!
Do any of these scenarios sound familiar?
- You are still working on that 2024 NaNoWriMo project and its starting to look like an overcrowded closet of subplots and loose threads. An evaluation will help you focus on the perfect styles that fit your
figuremanuscript so you can keep what’s working and cull the rest.
- You spent the winter revising and want to start querying this spring or summer. But let’s be real, you haven’t shaved in
weeksmonths, you need a pedicure, and your legs are bit Casper the ghost. An evaluation is the self-care your manuscript needs to be ready for hot agent summer!
- There is something about the beginning/middle/end/scenes with character X that isn’t working, but you can’t figure out what. Just like those herbs you planted that aren’t quite growing despite all your best intentions, a partial evaluation can help you hone in on what needs watering or staking or a different soil altogether. Let’s set your story garden up for success!
- You are ready to get an assessment of what is working and what needs improvement in your manuscript. Spring is the season for growth whether it’s in the garden or our writer skill set. Let’s take the energy of spring to stretch your skills by seeing what is and isn’t working in your writing.
A full or partial manuscript evaluation this Spring is the deep cleaning you need to make your story sparkle!
What is a Manuscript Evaluation?
Manuscript evaluations are deep dives into your pages, your characters, your story structure, your dialogue, your voice, all of it.
Whether it’s a full read or just 50-pages, you will receive deep level analysis on what is working in your manuscript and what might need more attention.
This will look like a summary editorial letter as well as in-document feedback.
BONUS: When I perform your manuscript evaluation, I will provide you suggested next steps to structure your revision, beef up your skills, or offer additional resources to help you on your journey. Consider it a little Spring Training: I want you armed with the tools and guidance you will need to knock it out of the proverbial park.
A manuscript evaluation will also include a coaching call. We will discuss your pages, your questions, and how you can approach your next steps. This call is just about you and your manuscript.
Options

The Manuscript Deep Clean is perfect for authors ready to query or have completed at least one revision pass* and are ready to dig deep into their manuscript.
Investment: A full manuscript evaluation is $4/page**.
*If you have just completed a rough and have not tackled a revision pass yet, I would recommend you start here instead. It’s a more affordable option to help you approaching revision so you don’t spend too much money too early in your process.
**Assumes standard manuscript format pages: 12 point, Times New Roman font with double spaced pages.

A partial evaluation is perfect wherever you are in the revision process.
We can focus on your first 50 pages, 50 pages from your murky middle, your climactic 50 pages, your final 50 pages, or random scenes throughout the book that you think aren’t working as long as the page count doesn’t top 50.
Really, this is your time to pick and choose what you want to work on.
Investment: $275
When your manuscript lacks a self-cleaning feature…
Tell me if this sounds familiar?
Guests are coming over and you immediately see the state of your house in a different way.
Not only are you dusting and vacuuming and scrubbing, but you’re suddenly very aware of that chair in the corner of your bedroom collecting the winter’s cast-off sweaters or the dust clinging to the stagnant ceiling fans.
We become blind to our own messes.
When you spend so much time drafting and revising your manuscripts, it can be hard to distinguish Peter Rabbit from the den of dust bunnies.
Your manuscript, unfortunately, won’t fix itself like your self-cleaning oven, but armed with compassionate feedback and detailed analysis from a certified book coach (hey, that’s me!), you can shine up your work so its ready for company.
