The Revision Road Map

The revision plan for writers

What if you could create a plan for your revisions that allowed you to stay on track during your revision process?

What if you could organize your beta reader and critique partner feedback to better find commonalities?

What if you could learn how to prioritize your edits to revise more efficiently?

With the Revision Road Map, you will learn how to analyze your manuscript draft, highlight changes in order of story priority, and use a proven system to tackle your revisions with confidence.

That’s right.

No more overwhelm of not knowing where to start.

No getting distracted by line editing and wasting time revising paragraphs you end up cutting later.

No more scouring page after page for the right sticky note or paragraph that needs changing.

The Revision Road Map puts you back in the driver’s seat of your revision process.

Tell me if this sounds familiar?

You’ve written a rough draft of a novel, maybe you’ve even read through it once. You know there are problems, but you aren’t sure where to even begin?

Or…

You are drowning in enough sticky notes to wallpaper a basketball court not to mention conflicting beta reader feedback. You know all the things that need to be fixed, but feel overwhelmed.

Or…

You started editing, but began on page one and now can’t see the forest for the trees as you line edit your way through, afraid you’re missing the big picture issues.

What if I told you there was a way to analyze your work yourself, prioritize changes, and track them at a glance to systematically resolve edits in a way that keeps you on the road to a finished manuscript faster?

That’s exactly why I developed the Revision Road Map!

The Revision Road Map tool is one I developed for my own personal use when I found myself overwhelmed and constantly pushing back revision deadlines.

Keeping track of tens of thousands of words, multiple characters, plots, subplots, character arcs, timelines, multiple points of view, and story structure is a lot. Add in critique partner and beta reader feedback, and those trusty sticky notes and red pens aren’t going to cut it anymore.

I felt like Atlas with the weight of my story world on my shoulders.

I needed a tool that allowed me to see the big picture at a glance.

Right now, you are struggling with managing all the moving parts of a novel length work that has problems.

That’s normal.

No one writes a perfect first draft. The magic for a lot of writers happens in revision.

But not knowing where and how to begin a revision can be paralyzing.

Starting on page one is tempting, but doesn’t help you fix the big, structural problems that might be present in your novel. Just like when you’re going on a road trip, there is no point packing the snacks if the engine won’t start.

Imagine if you could see your manuscript with fresh eyes, pinpoint those major problems, and make a plan to address them.

With a clear plan, revising doesn’t seem so intimidating anymore.

In fact, it can be downright magical!

My biggest point of overwhelm was collecting and integrating all the various feedback I’d received, and this was the tool that unlocked the mental traffic jam I was in.

Joanna Monahan, Author

I am Monica Cox, a writer and Author Accelerator certified book coach. I have also worked for years in professional communications, creating and editing videos and print communications for public relations clients. I love telling stories and getting to the heart of a message, whether it’s fiction or for a client.

I created this product because this problem is my problem.

Editing became an overwhelming process without direction and I often wanted to bang my head against my desk wishing someone would just tell me what to do so I could fix whatever was wrong in my manuscript. There was no worse feeling of powerlessness than knowing something was wrong but not being able to grasp how to fix it.

There had to be a better way than printed pages covered in sticky notes, and red inked comments in the margins that often ignored the bigger story problems in my manuscript.

While revising my third manuscript, I hit upon the Revision Road Map.

Immediately I had a clearer vision of my book and where it needed to go. When I sat down to edit, I had a plan for what I needed to accomplish each day.

Editing became less of a hair pulling exercise and more enjoyable as I solved the puzzle that was my manuscript. It actually started to feel fun again!

Since then, I’ve tested the Revision Road Map with my book coaching clients and they saw the same magic in it I did. With their feedback, I tweaked it into this reliable, flexible tool that works for a variety of writers.

My goal in creating the Revision Road Map was to share this magic with other writers, help them identify the problems in their own manuscripts, and execute those revisions with a comprehensive, easy-to-use document to keep their process on track.
